As the winter chill sets in and motivation dips for many, Sans Souci member Irene is proof that showing up for yourself is so important, no matter the season.
A familiar face in our pool, Irene has been walking and swimming with us for a while, returning to the pool just 3 months after she suffered a stroke that affected the whole left side of her body.
A Routine That Works.
Irene is at the pool most days, and says that being in the pool has improved her walking, and is so thankful for the facility and staff at Sans Souci. A well loved member of the Sans Souci community, the staff look forward to her daily visits.
“If that lane sign is out and you see a noodle poking out the water, best believe you’ll end up in a good chat!”
Irene’s Advice for Winter Training
For anyone starting their journey, try a little bit of everything in moderation. You’ve got to still enjoy life instead of dedicating all your time to fitness.
Irene feels close to the community at Sans Souci and anytime she struggles during winter she can confide in the staff for support, and always finds the pool is at a lovely temperature.
Irene believe’s in two goals to stay motivated during winter:
- Socialise and take your breaks.
- Do your exercise time alone sometimes so you can switch off from the world.
Thank you, Irene for sharing your story and being such a valued member in the Sans Souci community.
