Imagine a gender equal world, diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where our differences are valued and celebrated. This International Women’s Day, we join the global movement to celebrate the achievements of women and reaffirm our commitment to a world free of bias and stereotypes.
This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reminds us that when we invest in women through support and opportunity, we all benefit. At Sans Souci Leisure Centre, we are proud to spotlight the incredible team members who are making waves and inspiring the next generation.
Meet Charlie

Charlie is the Swim School Manager at Sans Souci and a passionate advocate for water safety, helping children and adults build confidence while learning a life-saving skill.
What inspired your career and what do you enjoy most?
"I was a competitive swimmer from a young age, and swimming has always been my greatest passion in sport. When I was 14, I had the opportunity in England to teach swimming to a group of children with disabilities, and from that moment I discovered my love for teaching.
I continued teaching part time while completing my sports degree and later used my qualification to work abroad in several European countries. I’m now the Swim School Manager at Sans Souci.
What I love most about teaching swimming is seeing children and adults achieve their goals and grow in confidence each week. It’s incredibly rewarding to give them the opportunity to learn a vital life skill, one that, in everyday situations, could ultimately save their life."
In honour of International Women’s Day, what advice would you give to women looking to build confidence in the pool?
"Wear something that makes you feel good. Invest in the equipment you use, whether that’s a full set of pink pool gear that gets you excited to put your swimmers on and jump in. When you feel good about what you’re wearing and using, you’re far more motivated to show up and enjoy your time in the pool."
How do you personally stay motivated and prioritise your wellbeing?
"The mentality I live by is ‘monkey see, monkey do’, practice what you preach. As a leader for children, it’s important to set an example. If they see that I take care of myself, stay active, and prioritise my wellbeing, they’re far more likely to follow suit”.
Celebrating Our Team
