Show Your Colours: Wear Purple on 28th August!

Show Your Colours: Wear Purple on 28th August! cover

At BlueFit, our purpose is Inspiring Community Activity. But we know that to truly inspire activity, we must first build environments where everyone feels safe to participate. That is why we are inviting all staff and members to roll up their sleeves, stand out, and wear purple on Friday, 28th August for Wear It Purple Day.

This year’s theme, Colours of Courage, celebrates the many different forms of bravery shown by LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies, and communities every single day. As shared on the Wear It Purple website.

What Does Courage Look Like?

“Courage is not just expressed in big moments, but in everyday choices to live proudly and invite others into understanding, acceptance and celebration.”

Courage isn't always loud. It can look like speaking up and creating institutional change, but it also takes quieter forms of bravery, like living authentically, asking for support, standing beside a friend, or choosing hope in spaces where being yourself doesn't always feel easy.

Like light passing through a prism, the diverse identities and stories within our communities are all different, but together they create something incredibly powerful. Colours of Courage honours the generations who came before and celebrates the young people today who continue to build visibility and connection. It also celebrates the allies who step up, speak out, and ask how they can help build safer, more inclusive spaces.
